Objective: To evaluate the effecte of a recovery program on average score of hope and quality of life in person with Schizophrenia.

Materiais and methods: The samples were 60 persons with schizophrenia admitted at Srithanya Hospital between December 2016 and February 2017. Participants were equally divided and randomly assigned into a treatment group (m=30) and a control (n=30). The treatment group received recovery planning program which was scheduled in 60 minutes per session, 6-session every other day over 2-week period. The group contents included setting goals for recovery, planning for handling triggers, warning signs, emergency response plan and following their plans. The control group received standard nursing care. Data was collected with the state hope scale and the EQ-5D-5L on before and after program 1 month and analysed with descriptive statistics and t-test.

Results: There were 13 males and 17 females remained in the treatment group while 12 males and 18 females remained in the control group. Six participants of the treatment group and four participants of the control group dropped out before completing the program. No differences was found in average score of hope of hope in the treatment gropu was higher than the control group while the quality of life between groups remained no difference.

Conclusions: The recovery action plan program has potential to increase mean score of hope among persons with Schizophrenia but not for the mean score of quality of life.
