Objectives: To study the relation of factor associated with gingival entargement in patients treated Phenytoin and Sodium valproate.

Materials and Methods: Subjects enrolled by purposive sampling from outpatients at Nakhonratchasima Rajanakarindra Psychiatric Hospital who treated Phenytoin or Sodium Valproate during research period Required information was collected by interview and patient's OPD card. And data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the factors which associated with gingival enlargement were analyzed by Chi square and point Biserial correlation.

Results: Total amount of patients were 212 people. Group samples was separated into 101 males (47.76%) and 111 females (52.36%), treated with Phenytoin 29 cases (13.7%) and Sodium Valproate 183 cases (86.3%). The average age of group sample was 40.12 (13.20) years old. From analysis, the statistics indicated that ginigival enlargement affected significantly to patient treated with Phenytoin (P<0.05) but other factors such as sex, age, toothcare behavior like tooth brushing dental floss usage, cigarette usage affected insignificantly to gingival enlargement. Furthemore, time period of drug usage also affected sgnificantly to gingival enlargement in low level (p .020).

Conclusion: Phynetion and time period of drugs usage is associated with ginguval enlargement in significant statistically.
