Retrospective study of 1100 psychiatric cases at the Department of psychiatry, Ramathibod: Hospital in 1981 was performed. By using diagnostic criteria of I.C.D.9 : 8.1% of psychiatric cases were diagnosed as latent schizophrenia. Comparing with D.S.M. 3 diagnostic criteria, these Latent schizophrenia can be categorized schizotypal personality disorder 47.2% borderline personality disorder 18.0% and 23.6% cannot be classified under any category in D.S.M. 3. The authors conclude that, among the latent schizophrenic group, some of them should be categorized as personality disorder, while others need further scientific research studies for definite diagnosis.
