ชื่อเรื่อง/Title: TICS IN CHILDREN : STUDY OF TEN CASES.

แหล่งที่มา/Source: Journal of The Psychiatric Association of Thailand, Vol. 26 No.4 October 1981. P 176-182

รายละเอียด / Details:

All studied cases are boys whose presenting symptoms are mainly eyelid blinking. Mean average age is 7.5 years with the majority age of onset at 6-8 years. Intelligence level of the children is average and above average. Sibling orders includes the eldest, the youngest and the only child. Parents are found to be rather strict or inconsistent in their discipline. The personality of the boys most commonly detected are passive aggressive traits and a few obsessive compulsive character. Eight cases responded satisfactorily to haloperidol and psychological intervention. The findings of this study is quite similar to other reports except that the age of this group is younger and the passive - aggressive character is predominant. Strict and inconsistent parental discipline seems to be contributive to the longstanding and unresolved psychological conflict in the children. Psychological treatment in addition to psychopharmacology is beneficial.
