รายละเอียด / Details:

In caring for surgical patients and families, perioperative nurses have many important roles such as giving information, psychosocial support and skill training. Perioperative nurses are included in all aspects of care, beginning with preoperative visit before the day of the surgery which is a prospective activities. This is a wider scope of operative nursing care, not just during the intraoperative phase. Attention should be extended not only to the patients who will have surgery but also to their families in every caring phase. It has been found that before surgery, surgical patients and families usually have moderate to high anxiety and family axiety sometimes is higher than that of the patient, which can be transferred to the patients. Therefore, perioperative nurses have to support both the patients and their families, Nurses' role in giving care to surgical patients is essential and if adequate support in given to patients' families, this could, in turn, motivate the families to substantial support to the patients, particularly moral support. Moreover, this support should help the patients postoperatively to recover from the surgery faster than usual. The entire suffested practice of perioperative nurses might also reflect these nurses efficientcy in patient care.
