Nowadays,we face to the problem of self-help skills in the point of putting on amd taking off the underpants to void and bewel for sever mental retarded persons that most of them could not do by themselves because of they have been helped by the others so that they have no chance to practice and as well as the waists of the underspants are petite so that it is hard for them to hold especially for the poor muscle tone persons. The researcher intended to study and invent this assisting equipment and find out some techniques to solve this problem for them. The purpose of this research study was to examine the effectiveness of underpants dressing training by using task analysis approach and underpants holding equipment for teaching and assisting the women with severe mental retardation. The subjects were the purposive sampling of 5 women with severe mental retardtion (IQ 20-34), aged 9-17, at women ward 2, Rajanukul Institute. These women were not able to put on and take off their underpants before and after time. Each woman was taught 15 minutes per session with a total of 40 sessions. The data were collected for 7 months. Descriptive statistics were employed. The results of this study revealed that after utilizing the underpants holding combining with task analysis approach, 4 of 5 women with severe mental retardation were able to fluently put on and take off their underpants before and after toilet time, Only one women, who had severe mental retardation and poor muscle tone, did not do well this approach.
