The research objectives were to investigate the community participation process in mental health promotion by applying the conference techniques of A-I-C and Mind mapping, to analyse the activities and to compare community mental health between experimental group and control group during April 2001 to March 2002. The qualitative data in the quasi-experimental research were collected by interview, participation observation, ndividual life history observation, focus group discussion and workshop. Experimental group and control were at Banthamuang Tumbol Bangmadoer and Banthangeaw Tumbol Bangdoen respectively. Results revealed that the Intergration of A-I-C conference technique and mind mapping conference technique can enhance people's opportunities to raise problems and needs awareness and to create the community empowerment methods in order to promote good mental health fro all. The community participation process can stimulate mental health promotion activities. Experimental group had better mental health compared to the control group. It could be concluded that the A-I-C and Mind mapping conference techniques could be one of community mental health promotion and prevention tactics. Participation process can empower the community to be able to face problems their own potential and local wisdom.
