Remotivation is a simple form of group interaction between the leader and a group of patients. The therapeutic aim is to assist patients to relate to and communicate with other persons. A meeting is planned each week for the group of patient participants to discuss plans and guides the meeting so that interaction and conversation progress through five steps of discussion : 1. The Climate of Acceptance; 2. A Bridge to Reality; 3. Sharing the world We Live In; 4. Appreciation of the work of the world; 5. The Climate of Appreciation. Remotivation may ve used in mental hospitals, psychiatric wards of general hospitals, hospitals for the mentally retarded, community recreation day centers for senior citizes, and nursing homes for the infirm and aged. The authors have applied this method of treatment in Srithunya Hospital since 8th June 1971. This has been done in two chronic wards of 290 male pateints and 179 patients had thistreatment. The results are satisfied. The Remotivator's team consists of one psychiatrist, three nurses, five nursing assistants and three attendants. One nurse and one nursing assistant take turn to be the leaders.
