During the last decade, mental health problems of crimes, sex, drug addiction etc, which are attributed to adolescents, have been of highly interested. The author discusses etiology of delinquency to stem from 3 main factors:- 1. Psychological factors: antisocial behavior tends to develop following the weeking or dysfunction of ego, or from failure of supperego development. 2. Sociological factors: overcrowded community, frequent migration, etc. 3. Biological factors: organic brain diseases, abnormal chromosomes, malfor-mation and certain diseases may distort social adjustment. The author emphasized that prevention is of paramount importance. Public education and promotion of mental health, including identification with authority of social values are beneficial in the long run. However, severe punishment may be of some advantage and justifiable in the present social emvironment of the country.
