This two-group quasi-experimental research on the development of care for chronic mentally-ill patient aims to study the effect of "sensory integration" on behavior of chronic mentally-ill patients with disabilities both pre and post experimen. The study was conucted among patients who received normal rehabilitative care with the application of sensory integration. The samples were 12 female chronic mentally-ill patients with disabilities who were hospitalised at the rehabilitative ward 6, Srithanya Hospital. These samples were divided into experimental and comparison groups comprising 6 patients each. The research tools used in this research were the evaluation form for daily activities of the patients, which covered showerm hair wash, correct tooth brush, eating and dressing. The study was carried out from October to December 2001. During the study, data was collected for 4 times; firstand second month for pre experimental and third and after the study completion for post experimental data. The data was then analysed by comparing the mean of daily activities between experimental and comparison groups and between pre and post experimental data. The change of daily activities of both groups were also compared in term of percentage. The result shows that the chronic mentally-ill patients who received rdhavilitative care with the use of sensory integration technique had better behaviour than pre experimental period. The post experimental result also confirms that chronic mentally-ill patients who received sensory integration rehabilitative care had better improvement than the patients who received normal rehabilitative care.
