This study compared the attitude of psychiatric nursing practice of group and non group counseling methods used by fifty third year student nurses at Ramathibodi school of nursing. An experimental group of 24 randomly selected nurses was group counseled for five weaks at three hours per weeks. The redoing 26 nurses composed the control group and recived no treatment. The study used the attitude in psychiatric nursing practice inventory to evatuate attitudes of both groups before and after treatments. The results indicate that the group counseling method effectively assisted the students. The attitude of psychiatric nursing practice of the students nurses in the experimental and control groups had no statistically significant difference before treatment but become significant at the .01 level after treatment. The difference in attitude of psychiatric nursing practice of student nurses within each of the groups before and after treatment was significanly at the .011 level.
