The purposes of this study were to a) examine the associations between personality, working ability, role diversity, flexbility of teams, and team effectivness of professional nurses in intensive care units, and b) to identify predictors of team effectiveness of professional nurses of the 977 professional nurses working in intensive care units, 471 was randomly selected from regional hospital and medical centers, and was divided into 74 teams. The questionnaires used to collect demonstrated acceptable Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranging from 0.82 to 0.93. Mean, standard deviation, Pearson,s product moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression were utilized for data analyses. the major findings were mean scoress of team effectiveness of professional nurses in intensive care units in all aspects were at high level. Role diversity working ability, flexibility of team., conscientiousness, agreeableness, emotional stability and extraversion were significantly correlated with team effectivenes (r= 0.72, 0.77, 0.78, 0.33, 0.32, 0.31, respectively). However, openess experience was not significantly related to team effectiveness. Statistical predictors of team effectiveness of registered nurses consisted of role diversity, working ability, flexibility of team and conscientiousness. the full set of predictors explained 73% (R2=0.73) of the variation of team effectiveness of registered nurses.
