รายละเอียด / Details:

The main purposes of this study were to initiate a biobank for Thai depression and to study the allelic association of certain genes with the occurring of depression in Thai samples. A multi-center, casecontrol study was conducted. Cases were recruited from Psychiatric Department of 5 medical schools and outpatient department of 6 psychiatric hospitals throughout the country. Controls, sex and age matched with cases, were enrolled from local healthy volunteers. Case inlusion criteria included individual who were between 18 to 60 years old and were dianosed with Recurrent Major Depressive Disorder without Major Psychiatric Disorder. Data collecting tools included Thai versions of Diagnostic Interview for Genetics Study [DIGS], Family Interview for Genetics Study [FIGS], Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale [MDRAS], and Young Mania Rating Scale [YMRS]. Blood was obtained for DNA preparation and Iymphoblastoid cell line establishment. Polymorphisms in 5-HTRIA, 5-HRT2A and CREB1 genes were genotyped by standard procedure. Appropriate statistical tests., including non-parametric test and regression analysis, were used to analyse the association between genes and phenotypes. 250 controls were success fully recruited in the study. Details of the clinical findings as well as genetic association results will be presented.
