Preterm labor is a public health problem. It was found that the rate of sudden infant death is high, and if the infant survives, mental and physical health problems are often found. These problems affect child development, family and country. No solution has been found for preterm labor, even with significant medical achievements and accomplishments in technology. Nurses must realize that it is very important to prevent preterm labor by carefully assessing risk factors, history and physical assessment and giving knowledgeable advice on being healthy before and throughout the pregnancies such as relaxation, eating foods high in protein and folic acid, and drinking eight glasses of water per day.
