This study was done in Siriraj and Ban-chang-lo districs. The total population of these two districts as surveyed in January 1973 was 131, 419. Four hundred subjects which were two hundred married male and two hundred married females were randomly taken from these districts. They were initialy interviewed by the public health nurses and then they were examined by psychiatrists, Fifty percents of the subjects were psychiatrically illed. About one fourth of the subjects suffered from anxiety neuroses. The remainders of psychiatrically illed subjects had psychosomatic illness, alcoholism, depression, personality disorders, psychoses and mental retardation.
